FMGE/MCI Screening Test Eligibility Criteria for Indian Students
According to the regulations set by the Medical Council of India, candidates must meet certain eligibility criteria to qualify for the screening test to practise medicine in India:
MCI FMGE Exam Pattern
The Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) is a computer-based test. It has 300 multiple-choice questions divided into Part A and Part B, with 150 minutes allotted for each section. Candidates get a break between the two parts.
The FMGE question paper pays equal weightage to all the questions, with 1 mark being given for each correct response and no negative marking for wrong answers. To qualify, examinees must score a minimum of 50% marks in FMGE as per the exam pattern. The paper is entirely in English.
Part A tests knowledge and application of clinical sciences, like anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, etc. Part B covers various clinical specialities including medicine, surgery, paediatrics, OBGYN, community medicine, forensic medicine, and more. Candidates must demonstrate a grasp of both the pre- and para-clinical sciences along with clinical domains to clear the FMGE screening exam.
MCI FMGE Passing Marks
To successfully clear the examination, candidates need to attain a minimum score of 150 out of 300 marks. Results can be accessed on the NBEMS website and there is no provision for totalling or revaluation.
